Evaluation Q6

What have you learnt about technology from the process of constructing your magazine?

I have learnt a lot about technology since I started making my magazine. I had never been on a mac until I started making my magazine. I learnt how to use photo shop which, again I had never used before. I learnt how to remove blemishes and lighten and darken pictures.
I learnt to use things like word le, slide share, celtx, blogger and prezi.
I had never used any of these things before until I start AS media.

Evaluation Q1

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products.

In my magazine I have both followed and challenged conventions.

Front Cover

For the front cover of my magazine I have followed the convention by using the same model on the front cover of my magazine as well as the other two pages I have done. This is the same as other existing pop magazines, like 'We love pop' and 'Top of the pops'.
Also the shot type for my front cover is a mid-shot. This is the same as the other existing magazines if they only have one model on their front cover.
Another convention that I have followed for my front cover is that I have kept the same colour scheme though out my magazine pages (pink and blue). This is the same as the other existing pop magazines I have looked at.
I also have a house style for my magazine. Me and my partner Becky have both done a 'My pop World' magazine. This is like the existing magazines out there, as 'we love pop' and 'Top of the pops'. They both kept he same house style so it is easily recognised.
I have used a lot of pictures on my front cover, Like the existing pop magazines.
I have used a lot of puffs like in the existing pop magazines.
My front cover is also very busy, this is a convention that I have followed because other pop magazines have there front cover very busy so that you always have something to be looking at.

The conventions that I have challenged on my front cover that my masthead is very complicated and glitzy where as the masthead for 'we love pop' is very simple compared to mine.
Another convention that I have challenged is that my colours are not  so vibrant and in your face.

Contents Page

For the contents page of my magazine I have followed the conventions by keeping the colour scheme the same though out all of the pages that i have done. I have also followed the convention by using the same model on the the contents page of my magazine as well as the other two pages I have done. This is the same as other existing pop magazines, like 'We love pop' and 'Top of the pops'. Another convention that I have followed for my contents is that I have kept the same colour scheme though out my magazine pages (pink and blue). This is the same as the other existing pop magazines I have looked at.
I have also used of pictures on my contents page the same as on the other existing pop magazines.
The 'Hello girlies' that I have used for my editors piece is very friendly and similar to 'Top of the pops' with 'Hello girls'.
I have categorised my pages into 4 sections. 'Your world', 'Celeb World' 'Fashion World' and 'Prize World'.
I have used big page numbers doted around my contents page like on the other existing pop magazines.

The conventions that i have challenged on my contents page is I have used lots of different font on my contents where as on the the existing magazines they haven't used so many different fonts.
Another convention I have challenged is that I have used a coloured background, most of the time the other magazines just used a plain white background.

DPS

For my DPS of my magazine I have followed the conventions by keeping the same model as I did for the front cover and the contents page. I have used a different background and costume for my DPS picture like they do on the existing pop magazines. Another convention I have followed is that I have kept the blue and pink colour scheme the same on my DPS as I did with my other pages. I have followed followed another convention by using a lot of puffs on my DPS. This is the same as on other pop magazines like 'We love pop' and 'Top of the pops'.

The conventions that I have challenged are that I used banners on the top and bottom of my DPS and I haven't really seen this on any other DPS. I have also broken another convention by using only black and white writing, not coloured writing like in the 'Top of the pops' DPS.

Evaluation Q2

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

The social group that my magazine represents I believe is pretty clear. The social group that my magazine represents is young girls. You can tell this straight away by the colours. The pink and blue show that it is a magazine is for young girls as they are bright girly colours. Another thing that represents that this magazine is for young girls is the model. The model is a girl and her pose is very pop like in all of the pictures of her. This magazine also has a fashion feature which is all girls fashion. The shops that are also featured are shops that young girls may shop at. The freebie that also comes with my magazine is nail vanish which represents that my magazine is for young girls. I also have a sction which, on the contents page is called 'Boys, Boys, Boys!' which again shows its for young girls.

Evaluation Q3

What Kind of institution might distribute your media product and why?

I previously wrote this. I still feel that IPC Media is the right company for my my magazine as they are global and I would like my magazine to be a global one. Also they have a lot of woman that use them which I do need as my magazine is target at girls. Also IPC Media doesn't have a magazine that is focused for young teenage girls.

Evaluation Q4

Who would be the audience for your media product?

The audience for my media product are aged between 12-16 and are all female. when I started my research, I did see that there is a lot of pop magazines for girls of that age range but I did try to make mine different by making it cheaper, giving freebies etc.
For my target audience research I did a questionnaire that help me a lot in finding out who my target audience is and what they like.
I believe I have reflected well on who the target audience is that my magazine is for. I chose to use a lot of things that I found that my Target audience liked in my magazine like gossip and fashion.
I took a fashion board from new look to present on the front of my magazine, showing the latest fashion which is what my target audience is into.

Evaluation Q5

How did you attract/ address your audience?

At first I did a questionnaire, this informed my target audience that I was making a media product. To attract them to my magazine, I asked them what they would like to see in my magazine, for example:

- Their favourite singers and bands.
- What kind of stories they would like.
- The colour scheme.

I let them have a say so that they would know already know about the magazine and the magazine will have the things that they would like to see in a pop magazine, therefore they would be more likely to go out and buy it. Also having a say in the price that they were willing to pay for a pop magazine as they chose the price.
Another is that with every issue of the magazine would come with a freebie which will also attract my audience.
